Babies R Us!

A friend of mine just posted her on her Facebook status that after 5 years she forgot how to set up some baby items- which inspired this post. I remember how to set it up- I just forgot how much stuff babies need! Multiply that by two and HOLY SMOKES!

I warn you these pictures are not for the faint of heart. In fact I am somewhat embarassed to show them to you! This room used to be our formal living room. You know, the room that doesn't get used for anything other than Christmas? It looks so pretty with the tree... sigh... I digress.... When we found out we were pregnant we knew that Maddie's playroom up stairs would become the nursery and we would move her toys to the formal living room since it rarely gets used. Then we found out we were having TWINS! Oh Boy (and girl!) do twins take up a lot of room! AND they aren't even here yet. So while Darin has been busy cleaning out the garage our formal living room turned playroom has now become Baby Storage Room! It honestly looks like a Babies R Us exploded in our house. Of course the crib and other big nursery items are all up in the room so this doesn't even count any of that! (I will post pictures of the room soon- it's nearly done...)

I have to say- that we have the most generous friends and family as most of the items you see have been given to us. We are so thankful! Ah ha! An idea! Game time at Mang World! See if you can spot the items! We have 4 exersaucers, 2 infant car seats, about 4 extra infant car seat bases, 2 bigger car seats, a baby bath, 4 swings, massive amounts of clothes, 1 Snap and Go stroller, 1 double jogging stroller, 1 double umbrella stroller, a single stroller, a Moses Basket and I am sure there are some other things hidden underneath. Poor Maddie's toys have been banished to one very small corner of the room. She has no room to play with her doll house. Some of the duplicate items will make their way to Grandma's house and we will find room for the other things soon.

I think we're gonna need a bigger house....

It was so worth it!

After 5 long weeks of hospital bedrest, my sweet Baby Girl, Madelyn, was born 5 years ago today at 11:18pm. I get all teary eyed just thinking about it. She is my dream come true! I am so blessed to have the most wonderful, kind, caring, compasionate, wild and crazy daughter! She has come so far in her young life- born 6 weeks early and weighing only 3lbs 14 oz and now is a happy and healthy "normal" 5 year old. Life is Good!

Bad Blogger! Playing Catch Up...

Man have I been a bag blogger! I apologize! I didn't realize my last post was in the beginning of June and here it is already August! ACK!

Today I hit the 25 week mark. Know what that means? I only have 12 weeks until my 37 week due date! Holy Crud! We are so not prepared! This pregnancy has gone by so stinkin fast, I cannot believe it!

In case you hadn't heard the news, we are expecting a boy and a girl! WHOO HOO! We are thrilled and it's exactly what Maddie had predicted. They have names, but we won't be revealing them until they make their appearance- we want at least 1 surprise! For now we call them Jack and Jill, Peanutbutter and Jelly or Macaroni and Cheese. Not even Maddie knows their names because our families' are all about bribing her to get the names out of them! Man, some people just are never happy! We didn't know what Maddie was when we had her and they complained that they wanted to know boy or girl and now they want the names! Jeez! =)

At my 24 week appt my belly was measuring 37 weeks! At this rate I'll be 72 weeks when I deliver- basically I am carrying elephants. Some days I feel small and others I feel like a tank! Here are a couple of pictures we just took:

We had another ultrasound on Thursday which definitely confirmed a boy and a girl and we found out that our son weighs 1lb 11oz and our daughter weighs 1lb 10oz. Bruisers! Together they weigh just about what Maddie weighed when she was born! Crazy! They were both head down and laying on my bladder and cervix- makes for a very uncomfortable mommy!

They are very active babies, our son is a night owl and likes to boogie when I lay down to try to sleep. Try to sleep is the key word. I don't understand how someone can be so tired and never sleep. I go to bed and toss and turn for a couple of hours before I come downstairs and watch tv. Then I head back to bed and try to sleep again. Who ever designed the female body failed miserably when they forgot to add some special hormone that lets women sleep a good 12 hours a night while pregnant in order to prepare for the babies come home! None of this up at all hours garbage!

Plus I am hot! This heat is downright WRONG! I am miserable! Thank goodness we have A/C in the bedroom, I have been spending lots of time just hanging out.

I am loving Watermelon and Ice! I cannot get enough ice! I have to have ice! It's the strangest thing! I have never been much of an ice eater until recently. I am especially happy when our ice maker makes these hollow cubes. I hope my dentist isn't reading this because I know how bad it is for your teeth!

In other Mang World news, Maddie is about 6 weeks away from turning 5!!! I cannot believe it! Where does all the time go? She has this big bash planned with hopes of a dunk tank, a slurpee machine and limbo. Not sure where she got all of those ideas, but I hope she isn't disappointed when they don't happen! And her guest list is at about 500! Forget those sweet 16 bashes on tv- she's ready to outdo them at 5! Lord help us!

We took a trip to Seaside,OR in June and had a fantastic time! Maddie and Darin had never been there and I hadn't been there in about 20 years! We stayed right on the beach and walked everywhere. It was the most relaxing trip! Maddie loves the beach and the ocean. She loved jumping waves and flying her kites. She was sad to leave- she was ready to move there! I think we will try to make this an annual get away for us.

Well I think I have more than enough made up for my lack of posts with this long post! I will try to be better at posting!

Feed Me!

It's midnight and I am HUNGRY! The problem is that I am craving Chicken Flautas with sour cream and guacamole and cole slaw from one of the local Mexican restaurants. It's midnight and I highly doubt they are open. *sigh* I went to bed a couple of hours ago because I could NOT keep my eyes open. Then all of a sudden I am hungry! I haven't been hungry all day! Why can't I be hungry at a normal hour? This wanting to eat at midnight and 3 am is killing me! Maybe it's getting me ready for waking up with the babies....

I am wide awake, hungry and watching Charm School with Rikki Lake. Awesome.

Some Pictures, finally!

I had a great doctors appt today. I got in and out super fast! No fire alarms, no waiting for my doctor- for the UW that is amazing! I didn't even have to wait at the lab to have my blood drawn. Everything is going well, it's still a "normal" twin pregnancy! My blood pressure was good, sugars fine and my 16 week 3 day belly is measuring- are you sitting down??? 28 Weeks! Holy Smokes! My doctor told me that in the next month or 2 if I am lucky, I am going to be so big I feel handicapped! Oh good, something to look forward too! =P He didn't seem concerned about the growth, so that's good. So far I have only gained 4 lbs- which I am thrilled about. Although, if I keep waking up at 3am hungry like I did last night that may start creeping up on me.

I got to hear the heartbeats, which I adore! I got to listen to Maddie's HB 24/7 for 5 weeks. It used to lull me to sleep, I find it relaxing. Everywhere we put the monitor we got loud heartbeats. Dr. E said "Yup, there's a whole lotta baby in there!"

I had Maddie take a picture of me yesterday at 16 weeks 2 days. I feel like I should edit out my face- UGH! I also took a couple of shots of Maddie with my belly-not bad for a self shot! I think when I am super big I'll ask my bro's girlfriend to take some belly shots.

Our next appt is in 2 weeks to find out what these two are! I am so stinkin excited! Get your votes in if you haven't already!!

Out of the Mouths of Dumb People

"Twins, huh? I had two baby kittens at the same time- I totally know what you are in for. I vowed that I would never have twins after those kittens."

This Body Ain't Mine!

Darin informed me that I needed to update our blog. Not much has been going on here.

Darin took Maddie for her first Father-Daughter camping trip last weekend. They asked me if I wanted to go with but I told them that I wasn't even comfortable in my own bed let alone a tent. =) I had a bridal shower to go to and I enjoyed my alone time. I rented a few chick flicks and didn't have to share my licorice. They had a great time-- they came home tired and super dirty!

I am feeling the babies move! At first it felt like my belly was rolling then I got little flutters and every now and again I get a little bump which I assume is a tiny kick. It's pretty strange to feel something down low and at the same time something up by my belly button.

Oh the Horror!! I had to buy a bathing suit. Buying a bathing suit while pregnant is a very strange experience. Normally you try to find something that tries to hide all of the imperfections and that will hide your tummy (and thighs...) only with a maternity suit- there is no hiding the belly! It's so strange! I took 5 suits in the dressing room and settled on the first one. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. And it's a two piece! Crazy right? Don't worry it still covers EVERYTHING including my thighs! LOL I may wear it when I'm not pregnant!

I am finally over the sickness. I have made it for car rides without getting sick. I am starting to feel more hungry, no real cravings as of yet. I can never decide what I want so I end up ordering 2 things when I am out only to eat part of one. I was finally able to eat Mexican food! Here's the strange part I ordered a chicken chimichanga and substituted cole slaw for the beans (ok so maybe vinegar is a craving of sorts- I cannot get enough of it!) I ate all of the cole slaw and 1/2 of the chimi and a few bites of rice. Normally I can polish off the plate and still eat a few chips after they take my empty plate. I think my stomach shrunk! They say with twins you are supposed to be hungry all the time and eat a lot. Not for me! Not yet anyway. I am not complaining because I really don't want to gain an unhealthy amount of weight. But I do want to make sure the babies are well nourished.

I have been having the most trippy dreams lately! Usually they involve the twins and friends from elementary and high school that I haven't seen for a while. They are like mini soap operas. I have a series of dreams every night. I wish I could remember them and have them analyzed.... naw then they'd probably have me committed!

I forgot how pregnancy does weird things to your body! It's like I have a totally different body!
